Longevity Checkpoint

What is a longevity checkpoint?

The Longevity Checkpoint is our comprehensive, physiotherapist-led assessment designed to evaluate key research-based indicators of your health, movement, and physical resilience. It looks at your musculoskeletal health.

Across a structured 45-minute session, we assess how your body is functioning now, identify areas of weakness or risk, and provide clear, personalised strategies to support long-term health, performance, and injury prevention.

The longevity assessment can be part funded through Private Health Insurance using your Physio Extras Allocation.

Why choose our longevity checkpoint?

The Longevity Checkpoint was developed in response to growing conversations with our clients at Restorativ Physio - many of whom were asking how they can stay strong, mobile, and independent as they age. It reflects the understanding that we have a significant influence over how we age, particularly through movement, strength, and proactive care.

FAQ

How strongly does muscle strength impact long-term health outcomes?

Muscle strength is one of the most powerful predictors of health and longevity. Research has shown that individuals with higher levels of strength have up to a 20–30% lower risk of all-cause mortality, independent of aerobic fitness. (Ruiz et al., BMJ, 2008).

Does physical activity really reduce the risk of chronic disease?

Yes—regular physical activity has been shown to reduce the risk of major chronic conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and certain cancers by up to 20–30%. Meeting recommended activity levels is also associated with a significant reduction in premature death. (Warburton & Bredin, CMAJ, 2017)

Why is balance and mobility important as we age?

Balance and mobility play a critical role in preventing falls, which are a leading cause of injury and loss of independence. Studies indicate that targeted strength and balance training can reduce fall risk by up to 30–40% in adults. (Sherrington et al., British Journal of Sports Medicine, 2019)
