Frequently asked questions
General
Q: What is Physiotherapy?
A: Physiotherapy is an Allied Healthcare profession that helps people restore, maintain, and maximize physical strength, function, and overall well-being by addressing physical issues resulting from injury, illness, or disability.
Q: Can Physio really help me?
A: Every person and each condition is unique. Some conditions resolve quicker than others. This is why we as a clinic have chosen not to have a have a set treatment protocol (where we require you to attend a certain number of appointments per week for a specified period of time based on your condition). Our Physios have years of experience and are able to deliver a customised program for you, which will usually result in a more favourable outcome. We will prioritise understanding your situation and objectives and work with you to achieve these. Sometimes this may just be a single session or you may find multiple treatments beneficial. We also know that the best outcomes occur when patients receive a combination of treatment and exercise programs (read more on this here).
Q: What type of Physiotherapy do you specialise in?
A: At Restorativ Physiotherapy we specialise in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy throughout the body. All our Physiotherapist are experienced and our clinic is the preferred clinic in the North Gold Coast for post-surgical repair rehabilitation, with a number of surgeons on the Gold Coast. Rob has significant experience in rehabbing professional sports injuries, specialising in surgical repairs for shoulders, knees and backs. Aaditi has a focus on working with women's health, backs and older people to treat and strengthen their areas of concern.
Q: Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?
A: No, you do not need a referral to see a physiotherapist at Restorativ Physiotherapy Clinic if you are paying for the treatment through Private Health Care or out of your own pocket. If you qualify to receive a rebate of the treatment through a Medicare funded EPC or Care Plan, you will need to see your GP in advance of the treatment and they will need to create the paperwork which specifies us as your treatment providers. If you would like to change physios, you will also need to contact your GP to amend the paperwork.
Q: What should I expect during my first visit?
A: During your first visit, our physiotherapist will conduct a thorough assessment of your condition, including your medical history, physical examination, and discussion of your goals. Based on this assessment, a personalized treatment plan will be developed. In addition to understanding your history and condition, we provide treatment as clinically indicated.
Treatment and Services
Q: What types of treatments do you offer?
A: We offer a wide range of treatments, including manual therapy, exercise therapy, dry needling, exercise prescription and more. Our treatments are tailored to meet the specific needs of each patient. We also offer Physio led exercise sessions in our onsite gym.
Q: How long does each session last?
A: Each session typically lasts between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the nature of your condition and the treatment plan.
Work Injuries
Q: Do you treat work-related injuries?
A: Yes, we specialize in treating work-related injuries. Our physiotherapists are experienced in managing a variety of work-related conditions and can help you recover and return to work safely. We also provide pre-employment assessments, guidance on workplace ergonomics and injury prevention. We work across all insurers and self-ensured companies to manage your case. We are also happy to invoice insurers and employers directly, with the provision of a valid claim number. There are no out of pocket costs for Work Injury Patients.
Payment and Insurance
Q: Do you accept private health insurance?
A: Yes, we accept most major private health insurance plans on Extras Plan. The percentage that each Insurer will pay for a treatment varies by policy. If you are unsure, please check with your health insurer. Additionally, we are a Members Choice Member for Medibank and NIB (and their associated insurance companies). This means that if you have insurance with any of these providers, you will pay less 'out of pocket' for your treatment as we have agreed rates. The rebate that you receive per treatment is also significantly higher than if you attend a different physiotherapist. For most insurers, we can process the rebate through our EFTPOS terminal, which means that you only pay the gap fee.
Q: What are your payment options?
A: For private patients, we accept various payment methods including EFTPOS, credit and debit card and cash (exact amount required). Payment is required at the time of service. We are happy to invoice WorkCover and CTP Claims directly to the insurer or employee, with the provision of a valid claim number.
Q: Are your services covered by Medicare?
A: Some physiotherapy services may be covered by Medicare under the Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan. Please consult your GP to see if you are eligible.
Q: Do you bulk bill treatments?
A: We don't bulk bill as it isn't possible to run our business on the rebate that Medicare provides and deliver a meaningful and effective physiotherapy service. Our treatment times are longer (always a minimum of 30 minutes) and all our Physios have years of experience. We have to take this into account when we price our services. We believe a combination of assessment, treatment and education is the way forward. We pride ourselves on building relationships with our patients and developing an individualised treatment approach. Please call us to discuss rates in more detail on 075551 6255 or if you have extenuating circumstances that you would like us to take into consideration.
